The igniter heating element (illustrated right) is an all ceramic (Si3N4) product. It uses complex multi-layer moulding and sintering techniques. The igniter has a much larger glowing portion than anything currently available, giving a better opportunity of ignition.

WARNING We strongly recommend that the installation is carried out by a qualified gas appliance engineer. Take care to follow the recommended fitting instructions carefully. Failure to do so will void the warranty and may lead to personal injury or damage to property. Fire Hazard Under no circumstances exceed the specified voltage of 120 volts. Ensure that components do not come into direct contact with water (for example, spray, dripping water or rain). Improper and dangerous operation can result from wiring errors. Ensure that wiring is routed securely, and away from any flame. Shock Hazard Always turn off electric power before working on any appliance. Ensure proper connection of line hot wires. Explosion Hazard Shut off main gas to appliance before installation begins, and do not reconnect until installation is complete. Please read all these instructions to the end carefully before beginning installation. 1. Turn off the gas and electrical supply to the appliance. 2. Unplug your existing igniter, retaining all fittings. 3. Cut off the plug from your appliance, as close to the plug as possible. Make sure there is enough lead to work with. Bare one quarter of an inch of wire. 4. Fit the igniter to the appliance using existing screws. 5. Attach the wires from the appliance onto the igniter, by twisting the bared ends together, matching one wire from the igniter, to one wire from the controller (please refer to diagram). 6. Take the terminal caps provided and screw down tight over the joined bare wires, ensuring that no bare wires are showing 7. Check installation is secure and safe, routing leads away from the burner. Commissioning 1. Turn on the gas supply and electrical supply to the appliance. 2. Set the room thermostat to maximum if applicable. 3. Test appliance for proper ignition and operation. 4. Verify that the Power-On LED, on the power module, is on during the Glo-Stix ™ igniter warm-up. 5. Make sure the Glo-Stix ™ igniter does not remain ignited for more than a few seconds if applicable. 6. Refit cover and make tidy. 7. Place Glo-Stix ™ upgrade label on front of the appliance, write the date of installation and your contact details. 8. Turn room thermostat to normal setting if applicable.
