Over time many part numbers for igniters have been generated, most refer to the same igniter, but with the modification of extra lead lengths and so on. All igniters fit into a burner housing that has only a few variations. Therefore the universal bracket kit can be used in a simple series of combinations to replace over 100 types of the most commonly used hot surface igniter.

Fitting Instructions
Please read all these instructions to the end carefully before beginning installation.

1. Identify which type of hot surface igniter is inside your appliance.

2. Unplug your existing igniter, retaining all fittings, and match it up with diagrams above (this can also be done by comparing the top end view of the base type).

3. Compare the position of the ridge on your existing igniter carefully to the top view diagram. Ensure that you have the correct igniter type. Take your time to identify this carefully.

4. Referring to the centre bottom diagram, break off the tabs indicated, preferably with thin nose pliers.

5. Cut off the plug from your appliance, as close to the plug as possible. Make sure there is enough lead to work with. Bare one quarter of an inch of wire.

6. Fit the universal adaptor to the appliance using existing screws. Once the universal adaptor is fitted, screw the igniter into the adaptor, as per the final diagram, using the screw provided.

7. Attach the wires from the appliance onto the igniter, by twisting the bared ends together, matching one wire from the igniter, to one wire from the controller (please refer to diagram).

8. Finally, take the terminal caps provided and screw down tight over the joined bare wires, ensuring that no bare wires are showing. If necessary, the igniter wires can be cut to length.

9.Check installation is secure and safe, routing leads away from the burner.

Commissioning
1. Turn on the gas supply and electrical supply to the appliance.

2. Set the room thermostat for heat.

3. Test furnace for proper ignition and operation.

4. Verify that the Power-On LED, on the power module, is on during the Glo-Stix™ igniter warm-up.

5. During igniter warm-up, using a true RMS voltmeter, measure the voltage across the igniter. Voltage should be between 50 VAC and 120 VAC.

6. Make sure the Glo-Stix™ igniter does not remain energized in the flame for more than a few seconds.

7. Replace the burner compartment door.

8. Place Glo-Stix™ upgrade label on front of the appliance, write the date of installation and your contact details.

Warning
We strongly recommend that the installation is carried out by a qualified gas appliance engineer.

Take care to follow the recommended fitting instructions carefully. Failure to do so will void the warranty and maylead to personal injury or damage to property.

Fire HazardFire Hazard
Under no circumstances exceed the specified voltage of 120 volts. Ensure that components do not come into direct contact with water (for example, spray, dripping water or rain). Improper and dangerous operation can result from wiring errors. Ensure that wiring is routed securely, and away from any flame.

Shock HazardShock Hazard
Always turn off electric power before working on any appliance. Ensure proper connection of line hot wires.

Explosion HazardExplosion Hazard
Shut off main gas to appliance before installation begins, and do not reconnect until installation is complete.
